Children's Council

Overview

Established in 1992, the Lake County Children’s Council provides education and training to schools, parent groups, community organizations and professional groups about the prevention of child abuse and neglect, both inside and outside of the home.

The Lake County Children's Council goal statement is, "Child abuse prevention through the transformation of Lake County into a trauma-informed, resilience focused community."

Being Trauma-Informed is when the care we provide is informed by basic knowledge of how traumatic experiences and traumatic stress may impact the people we are serving. Read more about adverse childhood experiences (ACEs.)

Being Resilient is having the strength and ability to bounce back after experiencing hard times or a tough situation. Read more about resiliency.

Free training is available for mandated child abuse reporters. Learn more about Mandated Reporter Trainings
