Citizenship Classes
Registration is now open for the fall Citizenship Classes.
CITIZENSHIP CLASS DETAILS: Classes are FREE and in-person!
Class Times: Tuesday Nights, 5:00 - 7:00 PM, starting September 2, 2024. Drop-ins are welcome
Class Location: Lake County Campus of Woodland Community College, 15880 Dam Rd Ext, Clearlake, CA 95422
Cost: This class is free.
Qualifications: Students must be at least 18 years of age and know basic English.
Class Description: This course will help you learn how to become a citizen, support you in filling out the N-400 application, and prepare you for the written Civics Test and Citizenship Interview. The class will be taught in English, with supplemental support available in Spanish.
Eligibility: To be eligible for United States Citizenship and eligible to participate in this class, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be at least 18 years of age or older.
- Have basic ability in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Have authorization to live and work in the U.S. on a permanent basis (known as a green card) for at least five years, or three years because you are married to a U.S. Citizen.
- Have had continuous residence in the U.S. for at least five years and have been physically present in the U.S. for at least 2.5 of those years, OR are married to a U.S. citizen and have had continuous residence in the U.S. for at least 3 years and have been physically present in the U.S. for at least 1.5 years.
There are three ways to register:
1. Register Online.
STEP 1: Please create a student account to register online.

Under “New Customers” click on “Create an Account.”

Under the dropdown menu that says “Choose the option that best describes the student,” select “Lake County Adult School.”
- Follow the steps.
STEP 2: Please register for the Citizenship Class. (Note: We have 30 spots available in this class! Register early to secure your spot. If the class fills, you will be added to our waitlist.)
2. Stop by the Lake County Adult School to get registered in person.
