Student Resources

The bulk of our work here at the Lake County Office of Education is comprised of supporting our local school districts that serve our Lake County K-12 grade students.

Our Educational Services department and Fiscal Services department are the foundation of our district support.

Our Information Technology (IT) department provides high-bandwidth, high-capacity internet to all of our districts, and our Emergency Preparedness program provides leadership in disaster planning for each of our districts to meet their individual needs.

Our Healthy Start program has family advocates located at school sites in each of our districts to provide comprehensive services to support academic success in students.

The Lake County Office of Education runs two schools. The Clearlake Creativity School provides educational opportunities for K-12 grade students, who have a current IEP and meet the referral criteria for admission. 

The Hance Community School provides an alternative learning environment for 7-12 grade students who are experiencing difficulties in a traditional school setting.

Lake County boasts one of only 32 Observatories in the state of California. What makes the Taylor Observatory and Norton Planetarium even more special is that they are located under the dark skies of Lake County, which provides spectacular views of the stars and planets.  

Services to the students include the Academic Decathlon, Mock Trial, University Admittance Reception, work permits, attendance competitions, and more.

Our Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) comprises all six Lake County school districts and the Lake County Office of Education. These Local Education Agencies (LEAs) collaborate to offer free appropriate public education (FAPE) to every Individual with Exceptional Needs.
