Mock Trial
Mock Trial
Lake County’s Mock Trial competition is run in partnership with the Teach Democracy and the Superior Court of California, Lake County.
Teach Democracy releases new Mock Trial materials annually.
With the help of a volunteer attorney coach and teacher, students prepare arguments, evidence, and more for the county competition. The county competition comes every year in February. Winners of county competitions advance to State Finals each March, and in May the winning state competition team represents California at the annual National High School Mock Trial Competition.
Teach Democracy will host the 2025 Mock Trial State Finals at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse on March 14-16!
Over 500 high school students will represent their county in court portraying the roles of attorneys, witnesses, clerks, and bailiffs. These young people put in a lot of effort to prepare for the competition, and it is a great experience to be part of it.
