Denim Day

This year Denim Day is April 24, 2024.

What is Denim Day?

Denim Day is a day to wear jeans as a show of solidarity against sexual violence and as a show of support for survivors.

The campaign began after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned. The justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans, she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, thereby implying consent.

The following day, the women of the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans, in solidarity with the victim.

Each year on Denim Day, the Lake County Office of Education wears jeans to work. This year, Brock Falkenberg, Superintendent of Schools, recommended the agency wear jeans on April 24, 2024

Please consider wearing jeans on April 24, 2024 in solidarity against sexual violence. Make sure to tell others why you are wearing jeans.
