Positions and Service Requirements
AmeriCorps Student Success Coaches (preK-12th) - Is a research-based, data-driven mentoring model designed to improve attendance, behavior and educational outcomes for students. Student Success Coaches are trained to serve as advisors, motivators, connectors, confidence-builders, and early warning systems for students at risk of getting off track – both in school and in life and ensure our Preschool students are receiving social-emotional learning, health, and literacy lessons to help students become kindergarten ready. These positions are 900hr/year or 450 hr/year positions.
Community Service and National Days of Service – Find volunteer opportunities, recruit and manage volunteers that foster the spirit of volunteerism and strengthen our communities! Lake County AmeriCorps members also participate in community service projects outside of education focused initiatives such as cleaning parks, serving meals, and helping at children/ family festivals.
Member (Professional) Development - Members start the program year with a comprehensive series of trainings and participate in continued training and coaching opportunities throughout the year. The emphasis is on encouraging the personal and professional development of each member in a supportive environment. These professional development opportunities along with your AmeriCorps experience can lead to employment within LCOE and our districts. On average 30% of Lake County AmeriCorps members get hired for permanent employment after their first year of service.
