The Lake County Office of Education Child Development Department has State Preschool programs across Lake County.

We offer full-day or three-hour-a-day programs. Please visit the Pre-Registration Information page to register online.

State Preschool programs are free to income-qualified families. Children receive breakfast or a lunch/snack daily.

Our programs integrate literacy, math, art, science, sensory exploration, imaginative play, and physical activity to provide your child with an optimal, balanced learning experience.

Our educators are active members of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the California Association for the Education of Young Children (CAEYC). They participate in annual national and statewide conferences, ensuring they remain intentional in designing and implementing best practices for early childhood education. Additionally, they utilize the latest assessment systems from the California Department of Education (CDE) and WestEd, including the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP), to collaborate with families in evaluating children's developmental stages. This approach allows them to provide instruction aligned with Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) to support each child's growth and learning.
