The Lake County Office of Education policies state that no LCOE employee or student will be discriminated against or harassed based on their race, color, ancestry, national origin, age, religious creed, marital status, pregnancy, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, military and veterans status, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, gender expression, or association with a person or group with one or more of these characteristics.
A person may file a complaint by contacting the Title IX Coordinator. In addition to filing a discrimination or harassment complaint with LCOE, a person may file a complaint with the Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) or file a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
Community and statewide resources are available for those who have been subjected to discrimination, harassment, intimidation or bulling.
Any harassment or discrimination based on a person’s sex is a violation of California Education Code 230, as well as federal law. If you feel that your discrimination has reached a level of Title IX, visit the Title IX page for more information.
