Taylor Tiraterra

Social Science Teacher | Middletown High School | Middletown Unified School District

Mr. Taylor Tiraterra has been an educator for fifteen years, including seven years at the community college level and eight years in secondary education.

Affectionately known as “Mr. T” on campus, he currently serves as the Social Sciences Department Chair, teaching dual-enrollment U.S. History and Civics while also advising the senior class.

Mr. Tiraterra is also the head Cross Country Coach, a role he has held successfully for the past five years, guiding students both on the course and in the classroom.

He is known as a kind, dependable, and conscientious educator who holds high expectations for his students and consistently supports them as a teacher, advisor, mentor, and coach.

Mr. Tiraterra builds strong, positive relationships with students, earning their respect and admiration through his approachable nature and genuine care.

In his classroom, students are fully engaged and actively participating, with vibrant discussions that reflect depth in both teaching and learning.

He has successfully prepared students for the AP U.S. History Exam, helping many achieve passing scores and demonstrating his commitment to academic excellence.

Mr. Tiraterra has also connected students to real-world experiences, helping bring visits from Congressman Mike Thompson and Assemblymember Cecilia Aguiar-Curry to campus.

He continually supports the broader school community, serving as a mentor to new teachers and willingly stepping in to assist students, staff, and administration whenever needed.

Despite his many contributions, Mr. Tiraterra remains humble, focused on doing what is best for students and the school rather than seeking recognition.

He fosters strong relationships with families and community partners, helping them feel welcomed and valued as part of the Middletown High School community.

Mr. Tiraterra is a true ambassador for Middletown High School and the teaching profession, representing the very best of what it means to be an educator.

His dedication, leadership, and positive impact make him a deserving recipient of the MUSD Teacher of the Year.
