TO TEACH. TO SERVE. TO LEARN.

Michael Zeni

Agricultural Mechanics Teacher | Kelseyville High School | Kelseyville Unified School District

Michael Zeni has taught for 12 years all of which are with the Kelseyville Unified School District.

Zeni was inspired to become a teacher through his experience in agricultural education and FFA, where mentors helped him find confidence and direction. A pivotal moment during student teaching—when a comic book helped a student learn to read—transformed his understanding of education's true impact.

He leads a thriving agricultural mechanics program at Kelseyville High School, contributing to a new state-of-the-art facility and numerous student competition wins. His proudest achievements, however, are the personal, lasting impacts he’s made on students’ lives.

Zeni’s daily instruction blends hands-on technical training with humor and creativity, from Lego welding safety demos to student-led shop projects. His class environment fosters curiosity, practical skills, and meaningful engagement.

His support has helped students of all backgrounds complete major projects and earn top honors at events like the Lake County Fair.

He displays his own high school FFA awards and degrees to connect with students on their shared journeys.

Zeni is known for meticulous planning, creative instruction, and student-centered classroom management. His original safety videos and organized shop space reflect his commitment to excellence and student engagement.

He voluntarily opens the shop multiple days a week to give students extra time for intervention and enrichment. His dedication outside regular hours shows his belief that all students deserve support and opportunity.

As an FFA advisor and welding coach, Zeni helps students develop leadership, confidence, and real-world skills. His mentorship has launched students into skilled trades and opened doors to future careers.

Zeni plays a key leadership role on campus and mentors new teachers through CaTIP, shaping instructional practices and fostering collaboration. He uses his prep time to support colleagues, share ideas, and contribute to schoolwide success.

Deeply involved in the community, Zeni supports local events, teaches college courses, and connects students with industry partners. His leadership and service have made him a respected ambassador for the teaching profession.
