With nearly 20 years of dedication to teaching second grade at Pomo Elementary School, Ms. Jenny Johnson has a profound passion for education.
She is not only cherished by her current and past students but also by the school staff and parents. Ms. Johnson tailors each lesson to meet the individual needs of her students, demonstrating her commitment to personalized education.
Ms. Johnson is a lifelong learner herself, currently in her second year of the LETRS training, where she deepens her understanding of the science of reading. She actively applies these insights in her classroom.
Additionally, she is engaged in a three-year arts education program called the Arts & Creativity Initiative (ACI), enhancing her instructional approaches.
Beyond her classroom duties, Ms. Johnson leads after-school reading groups for students who need extra support.
Ms. Johnson fosters a family-like atmosphere in her classroom, where students learn to collaborate and appreciate each other’s unique contributions. She emphasizes both academic skills like reading and math and also vital life skills such as empathy, communication, and perseverance.
Always ready to assist, Ms. Johnson supports various school and community events, from parent meetings to fun family nights and even Blue Zones events. She also serves as a mentor to fellow teachers at Pomo Elementary, organizing activities and staff gatherings to build a welcoming and inclusive community.
Ms. Johnson’s warm, upbeat spirit makes her an exemplary teacher and a pivotal part of the school family. She is truly an inspiration to all at Pomo Elementary.
