TO TEACH. TO SERVE. TO LEARN.

Heather Werner

3rd Grade Teacher | Lucerne Elementary School District

Heather Werner has 5 years total teaching experience with 4 years at Lucerne Elementary School District.

She became a teacher to give back to the Lake County community that shaped her, inspired by the exceptional educators who made her feel seen and valued. Her passion for mentoring began early, from tutoring peers to leading credential program study groups.

Werner is known for creating a classroom culture rooted in inclusion, empathy and high expectations, where every student feels respected and capable of success. Her former students frequently return to visit, a reflection of the strong relationships she builds.

She is a trusted instructional leader who fosters inclusive classrooms across her campus.

Though early in her career, Werner brings deep commitment and pride to every student’s growth.

Each school day begins with warmth and structure, from morning greetings to clear expectations that help students feel safe, motivated and ready to learn. Her classroom balances academic rigor with social and emotional support.

Werner uses visual aids, real-world examples, and collaborative problem-solving to guide students through math and literacy concepts. Her lessons follow the gradual release model and emphasize deep understanding and practical application.

She integrates differentiated instruction and formative assessments to meet students at their level, using small groups, hands-on activities, and technology to support various learning needs. Student choice and voice are at the heart of her approach.

Her afternoons are filled with hands-on learning in subjects like science, art and physical education, giving students real-world skills and creative outlets. She reinforces growth mindsets through consistent encouragement and reflection strategies.

As a summer school administrator and campus leader, she models excellence in every role.

Werner's classroom is a safe and structured space where all students, including those with exceptional needs, are given the tools to thrive. Her inclusive practices empower students to take ownership of their learning and build confidence that extends beyond the classroom.
