TO TEACH. TO SERVE. TO LEARN.

Glenn "Milo" Meyer

Physical Education Teacher | Clear Lake High School | Lakeport Unified School District

Glenn "Milo" Meyer has an astounding 36 years of teaching under his belt.

Meyer’s path to education began with football and a degree in physical education, but it was mentorship and experience that solidified his calling to teach. Influenced by strong role models, he earned his teaching credential after completing his master’s coursework and coaching at the University of Oklahoma.

He has taught physical education at Lakeport Unified for 36 years and is now teaching the children of his former students. His enduring goal is to make PE fun while teaching students how their bodies work.

Meyer has adapted to the evolving expectations of students, especially following the pandemic, shifting from large, uniformed PE classes to smaller groups with individualized motivation.

He teaches students that success in PE isn’t about speed or skill but about showing up and giving their best effort. His message of perseverance helps students feel seen and supported regardless of athletic ability.

Meyer fosters an inclusive, positive learning environment where all students are encouraged to participate. His lessons emphasize teamwork, discipline and mutual respect alongside physical development.

His influence extends beyond physical fitness, helping students build confidence, resilience and lifelong habits of healthy living. Many once-reluctant students have learned to enjoy physical activity because of his patient and supportive guidance.

He regularly updates his teaching methods to include new trends and techniques, reflecting his commitment to professional growth. His passion for lifelong learning models the same adaptability he instills in his students.

Beyond the gym, Meyer contributes to school culture through event support, team coaching and student mentorship. His involvement builds strong connections across the school community.

He is known for supporting both students and peers with dedication and integrity.

Meyer is widely respected as a role model who exemplifies the values of education, youth development and service.
