Teach Lake County (TLC) celebrated a major milestone with the graduation of its seventh cohort, the first group to complete the program entirely online. This achievement underscores TLC’s ongoing commitment to expanding access and opportunity for aspiring educators across rural communities in California.

Taylor Tiraterra, Social Science Teacher at Middletown High School, has been named the 2026 Lake County Teacher of the Year.

Commonly known on campus as “Mr. T,” Tiraterra serves as the Social Sciences Department Chair at Middletown High School, where he teaches dual-enrollment U.S. History and Civics courses and advises the senior class.

More than 120 students with disabilities from across Lake County participated in the first annual Safe Choices, Strong Community - Safety Explorers in Action event, hosted by Lake County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA).

Recently, the Lake County Office of Education (LCOE) successfully graduated its first Youth Summer Certified Nursing Assistant Cohort - but where are they today? LCOE is proud to share the continued success of students who participated in its first Youth Program.

Overall, Lake County students made encouraging progress compared to the 2023–24 school year. Countywide, 26 percent of students met or exceeded standards in English Language Arts, up from 23.3 percent the previous year, and 15.8 percent met or exceeded standards in mathematics, up from 14.8 percent.
