Early Connection Preschools
Get your 3 or 4 year old children ready for Kindergarten!!!!
Lake County Office of Education Child Development Program has you covered for preschool around the lake!!!
LCOE has State Preschool programs at 7 elementary schools for 3 hours a day morning or afternoon.
State Preschool programs are free to income qualified families and you will be surprised at the allowable income ceilings that will make it possible for your child to attend preschool and receive either breakfast or lunch daily.
We currently have 3 hour programs at Burns Valley, Kelseyville (2), Lakeport, Lower Lake, Middletown and Pomo Elementary schools.
Our programs balance, literacy, math, art, science, sensory, imaginative play and physical activity so that your child receives the optimal balanced learning experience. Here is a sample schedule of what a 3 hour preschool day might consist of for your child;
7:45-8:15 Hand wash, breakfast, sign in, books
8:15-8:30 Greeting circle (includes oral language/poetry or science links)
8:30-9:05 Outdoor play
9:10 -9:20 Story-time
9:20-9:30 Small Group Literacy/Math
9:30-10:30 Free Choice (includes special activities like art, science & cooking)

The Early Connection Preschool program implements the Houghton Mifflin Pre-K Curriculum: Where Bright Futures Begin. This is a hands-on, minds-on curriculum that is based on scientific research. Aligned with Pre-K learning goals, it provides children with the foundational skills they need to succeed as lifelong learners. Each teacher prepares lesson plans based on the goals and objectives of the current theme represented in the curriculum, as well as focusing on the Desired Results for Children and Families, developed by the California Department of Education. Our fundamental premise is that young children are active learners who learn best from activities with concrete objectives and real-life experiences that they plan to carry out themselves. Daily opportunities are provided for children to choose from a variety of activities which will enhance their cognitive, language, and social development. In order to support second language learners, we have an Intervention Teacher who works directly with all children enrolled in any of our preschools learning English.
