Governance that  Improves Learning, Teaching and Accountability

The role of the district governance team is central to the goals of the state's new accountability and continuous improvement system. This session will clarify the components of the new system and provide information and ideas for school boards on implementation of LCAPs and the connections among local, state and federal priorities.

Nancy S. Brownell presents to Lake County Superintendents and District School Boards during this evening session.

Nancy S. Brownell has been a California educator for over 40 years and has taught grades Kindergarten through University. She is currently a Director for the Accrediting Commission for Schools, WASC. Prior to her current position, she served as staff to the California State Board of Education, as Senior Fellow on the Local Control and Accountability Team. Her research and educational interests are focused on developing collaborative, accountable educational systems that strengthen student learning and district success.  She is also a Board Trustee for the Rescue Union School District in El Dorado County.
